The Met Office has issued its first weather warning for a thunderstorm in its 164-year history

Would love some of that.
(Of course, no golf ball sized hail or anything like that)

It rained very, very heavily in the North of Spain over the weekend...what happens there often makes it's way to the U.K as they tend to share the same weather front...

In the South-West throughout the day eh?
We had nearly a minute of drizzle at about 4o'clock here in Somerset.

It is shame the BBC has gone that way a bit.
Having said that I think part is wanting to provide more precise warnings.
At home, never has warning like this at all until Black Friday 1987, when a tornado came through and killed 27 people.

This isn't because its a meant to be a particularly dangerous storm, they've just never bothered with issuing warnings for them before.

I have my own early warning for storms. It's called 'headache'.
